"I can multitask," she says proudly, joking, and lets him go. Yet she's sincere as she continues, "I did miss you. I missed you while doing things, so I'm glad we're going to do things together."
She doesn't know a world where she doesn't miss either Gustave or Verso at any given moment. She misses Gustave now, worried about him always, but she's happy to spend time with Verso after what felt like a year apart. And when she's with Gustave, she does miss Verso and his humor. She feels constantly at odds.
For now, she tells herself Gustave is fine and she's with Verso and they're going to have fun and it's as simple as that.
